Gay will attempt to become the first back-to-back champion in tournament history. And he will try to become the first TOUR player to win the same event for his first two victories since Boo Weekley won the Verizon Heritage, in both 2007 and 2008.

However, the Ft. Worth, Texas native, will face a hungry pack of five other winners from last year’s season.

Most notable of this group is Holmes–a two-time winner of the FBR Open and a member of the victorious 2008 U.S. Ryder Cup team. Holmes was a rookie in last year’s Ryder Cup competition and the Kentucky native had a winning record in front of his fellow natives. Holmes missed the cut in his 2007 appearance at the Mayakoba Golf Classic.

Speaking of the Ryder Cup, Corey Pavin, recently named captain for the 2010 U.S. team, will return to the Mayakoba Golf Classic. Last year, Pavin was in contention on the weekend and finished tied for 12th.

Is the fourth-largest city in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. Politically it belongs to the municipality of José Azueta in the western part of Guerrero, on the Pacific Coast, about 240 km (approximately 145 miles) northwest of Acapulco. The modern tourist resort of Ixtapa is 5 km away.

Zihuatanejo is the seat of government for the municipality and the principal community in the region. Ixtapa is a government-planned tourist resort that was begun in the early 1970s.An old-world Mexican fishing village nestled around a small bay dotted with beautiful protected beaches and no high rises, residents of Zihuatanejo hope its location at the water’s edge will not discourage tourists who fear the occurrence of tidal waves. (source: zihua.net) Zihuatanejo has the old-fashioned charm of traditional Mexican culture. It is a town that sprang up from a handful of families who were mostly fishermen. Fishing continues to be a way of life for a large number of families, and the increasing popularity of the area as a sportfishing destination has given new impetus to their livelihood. (source: zihuatanejo.net) Other activities are excellent surfing, snorkeling, diving, golf, birdwatching, riding, swimming in the calm beaches in the Bay of Zihuatanejo known as Playa Madera, Playa La Ropa, and Playa Las Gatas for which one takes a boat ride from the town pier; drinking margaritas during sunsets and eating at the innumerable excellent restaurants.

Founded by the Nahua Indians (the predecessors of the Aztecs) around 3000 B.C., Acapulco was conquered by the Spaniard Hernàn Cortès when the Aztec Empire fell in 1521.The city retained its importance as a world trading port for the next 400 years and during that time became a Heaven for pirates including Sir Francis Drake.

In the 30´s when Acapulco consisted of solely what is now Caleta. Hedy Lamarr´s villa was one of many hill-side properties owned by numerous famous Hollywood contemporaries.

Over the years as Acapulco has grown, so too, has the list of distinguished visitors…John F Kennedy on his honeymoon with Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor with Mike Todd, John Wayne buying up houses along with Frank Sinatra, Johnny Weissmuller at home at the Flamingo’s Hotel, Henry Kissinger with wife Nancy as frequent guests at Las Brisas Villas, neighbors of the late Sha of Iran, Howard Hughes living his last months on top of the Princess…The list goes on and on…

The beauty of Acapulco, its bay and its beaches, has attracted discerning travelers for years, and any visit is incomplete without at least one trip downtown to see the real Acapulco, what it once was, and what it has become.

The safest and most convenient way to sample Acapulco’s divergent attractions is to take a tour offered by a reputable travel agent, such as ours, registered with the Mexican Ministry of Tourism. We are conscientious and handle a wide selection of excursions, sporting activities and day tours.

This is an island of white beaches, turquoise seas and green jungle, her southwest coast bordered by impressive coral structures, part of the second most important reefs on the Planet. One of the most interesting facts from the Island is The Cozumel Reefs National Marine Park. Created by Presidential Decree, July 19th, 1996. It embraces the southwest, south and southeast coast of the island and contains approximately 85% of the diving sites on Cozumel, a total area of 11,987.5 hectares (67,133 acres), including the maritime-terrestrial federal zone.

For more than a thousand years Cancun has been the meeting site of sun -worshippers. The Mayans built the first observatory on the shores of the ocean. They pampered their bodies in ancient cities that still remain for you to explore.

Cancun is one of the most popular vacation destinations on the planet. It is a modern, fast - paced island that still cultivates tranquility. No matter what your heart´s desire - exploring, dining, shopping, sporting or just relaxing in the lush beauty of this enchanting place, you´ll find a certain friendliness that bids you a fond “Welcome”.

Cancun is located on the northeast shoulder of the Yucatan Peninsula. Sometimes called “the Computer Resort”, it is one of the most beautiful, modern and exclusive tourist destinations not only in Mexico but also in the world. First proposed by Bank of Mexico’s researcher Antonio Enriquez Savignac in 1969, this resort was a result of a computer selection for the best location to build a resort destination.

Lined with beautiful white sand beaches and possessing favorable development conditions, Cancun soon grew from a small Mayan village to a large modern city. Initially, only nine hotelswere financed and built by the Mexican government. Having planted the seed, though, other investors eagerly designed and built hotels to attract incentive and group travel business. Today, Cancun is internationally renowned and attracts the best hoteliers, chefs, and restaurant chains in the world. There are over 2 million visitors to Cancun every year. The entire service industry has made a consorted effort to make this the premier destination it has become.
